Default 33 avs top speed with decent power?

How fast will a 33 AVS run with a pair of mild 1000hp blower motors, how fast with 1100 hp, anyone have decent power in one on here? How much hp to run 90 or a 100? Just bought a nice 99 with hp 500 efi's and exploring what my first big mods will be over this winter, thanks, Smitty

I would suspect that with proper set-up, with 1100s you could run north of 120. Quite a few years ago, had a friend/acquaintance with a 99 that was running 108/109 on roughly 900s w/Bravos on negative boxes, although I dont remember how high. Set-up was never truly dialed in or changed/tweaked after the build.

Mine will run 92-93 bone stock on 560hp at the prop Volvo 600s with DPX drives. This is where I think there is evidence is that set-up will be key in getting power to the water.

I am amazed at how fast these boats are with so little power , my plan is to run my with the hp 500s for a while and decide what Im doing for motors. My previous boat, 272 Baja ran 99.5mph on its best day with my blower motor. It is turn key on the stand fresh off the dyno, I would have to clone it which will be about 15,000+ and then rig the boat- ie innercoolers, oil lines, fuel pumps, etc. the boat I bought came with 2 working bravo drives, I have 2 max machine worx xr drives for my 272 that have there best parts in them, I have to re-assemble one and fix the other but I own them already. my blower motor can make 1100 hp on full kill, 1000 all day on pump premium but I would probably detune it for reliability, previously I made 95 hp with it with less cam and still had mefi3 injection, could go back to that, decisions! I'd like to run 100but I feel if I can dial the tq and hp back to 800 or 900 and run the number I could get a little bit more life out of the drives between breakage. I assume the boat I bought (havent drove it yet) will run 82ish with the hp 500 efi's?

Yes, 500 boat will definitely run north of 80 and should pull 82.

I will be interested to see what direction you end up going and how it comes together.

We built a 1999 33 for a customer in 2000 with 602 ci N/A 800+ HP number V drives the best we got out of it was about 108 mph then it ran out of bottom. the tightest engine room ever. But it was bullet proof.

Exact answer I was looking for, boat got dangerous in the single digits? Did it have boxes or shortys? I gained absolutely zero on my old boat with the stellings box and went backwards actually, went backwards even worse with the shorty plus got to see god at 95 mph sideways with the shorty so not in a bog hurry to do either but I have read now several times they give positive results on these hulls.
