Default Any thing special I need to know about pulling a boat through, IL, IN, OH ?

Im looking at pulling a 33 outlaw home (MN) from PA next weekend. Is there any thing special I should know about pulling through IL, IN, OH? I know there are tolls in IL as soon as I cross into IL.

Enter in on I-90, then south on 355 to I-94. Then my plan is to head south out of Gary IL, (I-65) then grab I-70 To Pittsburgh to miss the tolls on the "northren" route. Then I might have to jump onto to Pennsylvania Turnpike from 79 to 76 va 376 .. I heard The turnpike tolls are super expensive?

Other then plan on tolls, that is there anything I should know (or not know) pulling this size boat through these sates? Never pulled in that area. I just remember a post from few years back on how bad IL fuzz was on larger boats.

I've been pulling boats in IL for close to 20 years and have never had a State or other cop give me a second look.

Haven't heard of too many issues in Ohio from fellow boaters, except if your wayyyy over width.

Not sure how much the toll is with a boat, but for 2 years straight I drove through Ohio and its really not worth trying to avoid a toll road there. It is for the most part free sailing at 70mph. Why dont you check on the prices, im sure they are on a website somewhere.

Going by IL, OH, IN PA toll calc way there empty $46.25 Way home (hopefully under 15,000 lbs) 118.25

So Call it $175 in tolls. So $175 to save 1.5 hours each way. Trip goes from approx 15.5 hrs to 14 va tolls.

Turnpike roads are nicer in most parts. PA turnpike $$ is killer, with Ohio right behind.

IL used to have a 55mph speed limit on the interstates if you were pulling a trailer. Sucked bad. They did away with that a couple of years ago and now the speed limit is 65-70mph pulling a trailer

If you plan to go south enough to hit Indy, then why even mess with Chicago? Take 39 south from Madison to 74 east to Indy.

OR, you can cut through IA and grab 74 there, missing all the WI/Chicago traffic on 90 all together.

I would not want to pull a big boat through Chicago if there were rural options, which in your case there are.

I`d avoid Chicago . (90/94) stands still most of the time.
You`re not going to have any issues except getting hit in the wallet in Illinois. (tolls)
