Hello all.
Getting really close to dyno time here.

I'm running the Daytona sensors CD-1 marine box and was wondering if anyone has any input on plug wires. (Yes, I'm going to call them tomorrow, but I wanted to see what others that have this ignition are using)

A good friend owns firecore 5.0 and Im leaning towards using his stuff.

Any consideration about the marine environment when it comes to wires or will any good quality wire work fine?

I use the mercury blue wires that comes on the 500 efi ,factory crimped ends and fit the plugs nice,we use the msd dist and 6m box

No issues with the Ultra 40 Moroso's and the Daytona ignitions.

can,t go wrong with msd or taylor plug wires.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I guess I'm more concerned with the type of wire as opposed to the manufacturer.
Are there limitations in the marine environment in regards to type. IE...do they have to be "suppression" wires?

the daytona box requires wires that do not emit rf,same as a msd box.

In the USA - Moroso makes there own cable and wire. Actually there is only 3 who does this and everyone else buys the stuff from them to either complete the set or its already done per what they want. Standard is another one plus they make alot of Nascar wire sets for them. I forgot the third.

Some others sub out to CHINA

I am dealing with someone in the USA to make better 496 wire sets than what Merc has for that app. I see these 496 OEM wires not living up to what they should. Also too many ohms for increased spark energy.

Anyways with the current electronics on board and with current ignition systems plus all computer controlled engines you need a very good suppression core spark plug wire set - one that has very good EMI and RFI suppression. This also helps with engines that have knock sensors so that RFI and EMI is NOT transmited noise nor the interference. IMO 8 mm and higher are the better wire sets than the 7mm and 6.5 mm spark plug wires.

I do like the Moroso wire sets.

I have some msd wires that have some bad crimps right from the factory. Actually breaking contact completely while running. 3 on one set that I found using an ohm meter. I have some pics if anyone needs to see them. Will not buy wires from them again. They were 8.8 iirc

I had a hard time getting a good pic. These are the factory terminated dual crimp terminals that msd uses. One crimp on the insulation and one crimp on the center conductor. The terminal on the center conductor was not crimped and would break contact with the slightest movement. Engine woudnt rev above 4k every other time out.
