Default Buying a boat and need some advice!

I'm in the market for a boat. I'm a salt water fisherman but I don't know much about go fast boats. There's a guy selling a 98 272 baja with a built 600hp motor with a supercharger , it has an XR drive. Can the drive handle it? I realize it's about take off, slowing down and no hole shot. Thanks in advance from a newbie.

I ran a 271 Formula with a Whippled 635hp, XR 1.50, 26P bravo 1 for 4 years no problems.

It has a 30p prop. Should I down size?

Get the boat on the water and run it before you start changing parts. Save your $ for drive repairs and drive upgrades, your going to need it.

He has a spare drive for $3000 more. Is that a fair price?

Find out what the gear ratio is in the XR before you start playing with props.
