496 manifolds on a carbed 454
Hey guys I'm sure this question has been asked before but I found some 496 aluminum manifolds with 20 hrs fresh water run time on them with risers for like $700. Idk if that's really a good price or not but I know people have said to put 496 manifolds on a 454 for weight loss and a minor bump in power. Now is there any modifications that have to be made to make them fit? Any kind of drilling and tapping or different hoses because ones a closed cooling and ones a raw? I know I would have to make an oil relocation bracket and either relocate the shift cable or make a bracket for that. I'm just curious how involved it is or if it's pretty simple. Thanks guys

I di the same thing on my last boat. All the bolt holes lined right up. The problem I had was the risers didn't line up with the tail pipes in the transom. They were about an inch off. It was enough to cause it to burn through the rubber exhaust hose. I had to make an S pipe to line everything up.

Mine has a rubber hose then a 90 degree elbow another rubber hose then another 90 then they tails. So idk if I would have that problem. The guy who has the manifolds and risers says they have 25 hours on them and only fresh water but he wants $750 for them. Idk if that's to much or not

Average price seems to be 350 to 450 without the riser,s and I have seen risers for sale 300 to 400 so 700 is not too bad . I bought a couple of sets a few months ago fresh water use and I paid 450 a set .

We put a set on my dad's 454 and the manifolds bolted right up no problem. Like other have said, the alignment to the tails was the only issue. We just fabbed up a S-Pipe to fit to the tails and they work awesome. Also, I think we paid $475 shipped for a complete set up. I bought them form a member on here after I made a wanted ad.

Yeah I put a few wanted ads on here and most people only have the cast ones. I would love to have the Hardin low exit set up but I'm not paying $2700 for an exhaust. I was even throwing around the possibility of just getting new oem ones. I'm kinda low on funds and I want to get my boat in the water this summer. It's been 2 years and I'm finally getting to it. But the other thing is I need a new gimbal ring so I'm just going to not take the lube and buy a whole new assembly for $2100. I'm trying to keep the exhaust under a grand.
