Hi Gang,

Looking for a little help.

I would like to try the original Cleaver Props on my 38KV, they came with a spacer and the marine shop installed them with the spacer on the outside.

Does anyone know if this is correct?

I do not want to screw anything up after just having the drives restored.

That is correct. you need the spacer otherwise the lock nut will bottom out on the splines before the prop is tight.

Off the wall question, are those type of props worth any money? I have a set just like them that fit a TRS spline. They have been collecting a bunch of dust in the garage. A while back I wanted to use them to make a glass table.

Thank you all.

Rick ran it on the lake with 24P 4 blade Bravo 1 props.

He gave me the original props, 2 sets of Cleavers, 15" 22P and 16" 21P I think the 15's are the original to the boat.

I had them both balanced and polished, I assume the 16" 21P will perform about the same?

I want to see the difference from the Bravo 1, I'm guessing the Cleavers will have more top speed but less maneuverability.

The spacers are correct. Back when I switched from SSM II's to TRS I had a set of 21' 3 blade cleavers, I too had to use the spacers. As far as the cleavers being faster, I doubt it. You have to remember that the TRS is not a surfacing type of drive. The cleavers were good in their day (30 years ago), but the bravos are a better prop.

Back in the day I ran the speedmaster wheels on a TRS. I would have the diameter of the cut down to fit TRS. They run 7 mph faster on my boat than any of the other props available back than. But they were very hard on lower gears set. I still have one adaptor that fits inside speedmaster wheel to fit TRS shaft, if anyone is looking for one. The adapters were made by S&S Propeller. It was very common back in the 80's to see speedmaster wheels on the Hawk Powered Cigarette's with TRS
