Default Opinions on a 2008 4wd Duramax with 327,000 miles?

Currently I have a 1996 C3500 Chevy Dually diesel 2wd extended cab. Ive had the truck for 17 years and it has 132,000 miles on it. It is a good truck but very under powered when towing the Scarab. I estimate that the Scarab on the trailer is about 12K lbs. I also tow my Sea Ray and Formula and they weight about 5500 and 4600 lbs respectively. Right now I only tow the Scarab a mile to the launch ramp but would like to start traveling with the boat farther. Ive found a 2008 Chevy extended can 4wd dually duramax with 327,000 miles on it in Florida for $14,000. The truck looks clean and could have high miles possibly from being used by a couple for cross country traveling or a transport company owned it. What do people think of a 08 4WD Duramax with this many miles?

Price is pretty high imo, for 8k it might be an ok deal depending on what kind of shape its in.

Miles are very high, unless a frame off restoration with 100% rebuild had been done, even then it would still be a truck with 327K miles and not worth very much. I would look at something else that has decent miles on the odo.

low mileage trucks are out there, they just cost 40 grand, so i know your pain.
every time i buy a veh. i know about a grand later it'll be good to go,
(tires- brakes- maybe shocks- always alignment, and what goes along w/ that,- front to back fluids filters lube)
then i don't bo n luke duke it around town, and end up happy. knock on wood !

run the vin / carfax and find out if it was used as an over the road transport, and didn't haul ceramic tile or roof shingles around town by the bosses meth head nephew

Most likely the truck has been used for Hotshotting with that kind of milage.

Yea it s most likely highway milage , but it probably was always towing 5000 to 20 thousand also.

Here is the ad to the vehicle. https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...4340/overview/
According to the vehicle history, it has always been in Florida, and it had an accident 1 month after it was sold in 2007. Is the Duramax still a good engine with this many miles on it? I'm not afraid of doing repairs on it, I do all my own repairs now (except body work).
Outonsafari, your right about there being lower mileage trucks out there but for 40K. When I bought my dually, it was 4 years old and I bought it for 14K. So i'm a little in sticker shock when I see trucks that are 4 years old, like mine was, selling for 3 times what I paid for mine. I guess I was lucky when I got my truck back then.

Its not going to get any better price wise in the future. To replace my current 4 year old F350 SRW King Ranch crew diesel with new it would be $85k. They are getting expensive. Get the best truck you can afford, they aren't going to get any cheaper.

no kidding, at these prices, my next boat and tow vehicle will have to be 16' mfg tri-hull pulled by delta 88 (w/ spoke hubcaps)
