H2Xmark 03-02-2003, 06:36 PM what year baja?, which 454, the 310 hp or the 385hp's? they don't have a 24 mirage unless it is custom, could it be a 25, and is it a mirage plus are a mirage, anything done to the boat to increase performance? these are need to know questions people will ask you Mark Julio 03-02-2003, 06:56 PM It's not my boat, but I will find out and re-post. Thanks Mark..... rjcardinal 03-02-2003, 06:56 PM Julio, Quit posting questions about Mikey's new boat and make him get on the board!!! Saw Mike last week. He was talking props then. I think he has 25" Mirage's now. Where is L.J? He will see this thread and know for sure. Going to the Boat Club Meeting Thursday? Ron rjcardinal 03-02-2003, 06:57 PM Oh I know for sure he has carb 7.4's. Rated at 300 hp at the prop. Bone stocker no performance mods..... yet! Ron liquid asset 03-02-2003, 07:01 PM 23" Mirage plus is the best prop for that boat Julio 03-02-2003, 07:11 PM Ron, As soon as Mikey gets a computer, he'll be on line! I hope:) :) JaayTeee 03-02-2003, 10:40 PM I had a 97' with 7.4's it had 25p mirage pluses on it, rpms were 4500 on top, that seemed to be a good set for that boat/ engine combo The rev limiters on the 7.4's with TB5 is only 4700. so aim around there kathycool 03-03-2003, 12:03 AM Already did a search in the Baja section.........forgot what was recommended, told Mike........guess he FORGOT:rolleyes:   :D :D :D HOUSTONPROP 03-03-2003, 04:47 AM Originally posted by jt29olhp500s I had a 97' with 7.4's it had 25p mirage pluses on it, rpms were 4500 on top, that seemed to be a good set for that boat/ engine combo The rev limiters on the 7.4's with TB5 is only 4700. so aim around there DEPENDES on what you want all out top end or hole shot and alot of midrange accleration if you want all out top speed go with 25 mirage props and have them labbed, they will plane out slow but run great on top end where as if you run 23 stock you will need to have additional cupping added for the best performance,It just so happens either choice 23 or 25 you will need to be in the middle of the two for the best performance.// being that you now have 25's , I would tune these to get the most you can.;) jmeng 03-18-2003, 02:42 PM Just found this thread. Is Mike going to buy new props? I really don't think there is much room for improvement. Only bad thing about the current props is that they will blow out when coming on plane if you rev it over 3500. The boats has no mods (yet :D )other than holley flame arrestors. Current props are 25" Mirages. Boat will hit 4600 rpm under good conditions. liquid asset 03-18-2003, 07:06 PM All 29's blow out coming on plane with 3 blades if you are on it to hard, but thats good for the drive, it keeps dummies from taking off fool throttle rjcardinal 03-18-2003, 08:19 PM If he has standard Mirages maybe the Mirage Plus will solve the blow out problem. It helped my old boat greatly. Ron jmeng 03-18-2003, 08:35 PM Hmmm, not sure if they are Mirages or Mirage Plus. Dad might know. skygod 03-19-2003, 12:17 AM I only get 4600 rpm w/my 25's on the 454 mags, how can 7.4's turn the same or close to it rpms? jmeng 03-19-2003, 08:40 AM Skygod, Don't know why you aren't turning more rpms. This boat seem to run better than most other 29s with 7.4s that I've read about on the board. We saw 68 - 69 on the GPS more than once. Erie Desire 03-19-2003, 12:11 PM My boat was delivered with the 25p Mirages plus props. It would only turn 4100-4200 rpm( I have the 7.4mpi's) And reach 65mph. I then switched over to 24p Bravo 1's, and now turn 4500 rpm. With a top end of 63-64mph. With the Bravo ones I am able to plane in a jiffy(needed on Lake Erie W/low water levels,IMHO), and some of the top end chine walk disappeared. Overall I am pretty happy. I can drive the boat at 48-50mph all day long without burning tons of fuel. daveo1 03-19-2003, 10:18 PM I have a 1999 29' with 7.4' mpi's. I'm bumping the rev limiters @ 4700rpm running 23 mirage pluses at 65-67 mph, all is stock except for k&n's. Just added EMI's (new design) and am going to send in the ECU's for remapping and rev limiter mod. I should be able to handle 25's, but I don't want to buy new props's. Most likely I will rework the 23's to 24.5's and add some cup, this should get me to b/t 4700-4900 which is max that I want to spin these motors. Anyone have any other experiences that they want to share that might shed some light on my setup? bvs629 03-20-2003, 08:19 AM all this information is good stuff. Now I am not sure what I want to do? Pitch my labbed Bravo 1's, 24's to 25 or run my 23 mirage 23's to 24 and add cup. I guess I better decide be for I do anything. Thanks for the info. BVS jmeng 03-20-2003, 08:36 AM Erie Desire, I'm very suprised to hear that your boat chine walked at 65. Ours was rock solid when running upper 60s. bvs629 03-22-2003, 05:51 PM [QUOTE]Originally posted by liquid asset All 29's blow out coming on plane with 3 blades if you are on it to hard, but thats good for the drive, it keeps dummies from taking off fool throttle [/QUOTE I put the smallest PVS holes in place of the fully closed plugs and the faster rev up brings the bow over faster and there is not some much over rev. But I still think I will take darin's advice and twist the Mirage Plus 23's to 24 and have them labbed BVS H2Xmark 03-22-2003, 08:17 PM hey Skygod I thought by now you would have moved up? I sold my H2X and bought me a 29 outlaw with 454 mag efi's in it, it has the 25 mirage plus props also, only been in it once on the demo run, but would think it should turn 4800 to 4900 rpm's rev limit is 5050, I will be splashing it soon Mark liquid asset 03-23-2003, 08:34 AM Originally posted by skygod I only get 4600 rpm w/my 25's on the 454 mags, how can 7.4's turn the same or close to it rpms? It can't, at least not accuratly, I would check my tach if that were me, 7.4 29 should only spin 25's mabye 43-4400 |
