Default 800sc Valve Springs

Some imput wanted. I have a pair of Merc 800sc's with under 90 hours in my 95 Skater. They are original and have never been apart, they still have the seals on the intake bolts. I am thinking of replacing the valve spings this year just as routine maintance. I would probably use Isky 8005-A with their retainers and locks. Who has a set of these 800's, and how many hours are they good for, valve train, blowers, ect? Thanks, Paul

Paul, you may want to change the lifters. I think you can do that without removing the intake.

its easy to get lifters out ,blowers will last several hundred hrs,

Griff, on a lot of these BB heads, there are openings that will allow you to drop in a "hook" and pull the lifters out by their tie bar and reinstall them the same way. Most people fashion a few out of hanger size wire. Its a PITA but easier that pulling the blower, manifold etc. and reinstalling same.

I want Lucy to help me work on MY engines.
I routinely drop fasteners and small parts (bolts and nuts) in the bilge and my big arms won't fit between the hardware to reach them.

I bet LUCY could bend over right there and reach those nuts. She might have to give a little wiggle, though, to get them to come out.

I'd even buy her lunch.

Shawn, wow, I had no idea any heads were made like that. Makes a lot of sense and would save a lot of time on engines with high lift cams.
