Water Pressure sender location

Water Pressure sender location
I am installing water pressure gauges and need to know the proper location for the electric sending unit. I also need to know if isolators are needed for protecting water pressure senders. The parts person I got them from thought so, so I bought them. I'm not so sure, if not needed I will save the isolators for when I buy fuel pressure gauges.

The block drain plug is a good place, but it is common for rust and other contaminates to get into the sender or hose in this location. It may be better to go into a plug in the intake manifold. I have mine in the block and so far had one false alarm due to a plugged line. If it happens again I will be moving my hose to the intake.

I have two
one on the intake that is mechanical. I can just raise the hatch a couple of inches and see the liquid filled gauge. I also have the type you show in the picture.
A WORD OF CAUTION
This isolator is very heavy. I mounted mine on the side of the block also and the fittings have broke twice on me. Luckly I found the leaks in time. I finally mounted mine on the backside of the trim pump bracket and ran a hose from the block to the sending unit. Don't let a 50 cent part sieze your motor.

Here is a picture of my isolator, sending unit and low pressure switch mounted on the transom. Follow MIKEHTMSR24 suggestion on mounting $.50 fittings on an engine. I have seen these fittings break where someone put a T on the block to hold an oil sending unit and oil pressure switch.

Thanks guys, I probably would have mounted it to the block with the fittings, not thinking of the pounding it must take. I will definately fabricate brackets. Thanks again for the advice and the pic.
