Thumbs up Corsa Muffler removal with 5200, Sucess

I finally got arround to removing the muffler tips that were bonded in with 5200. It worked out well. First I bought a hydraulic pulling ram. Then I rigged it up to a gear puller. Then I connected the whole deal to my Hi-Low. Then I went on the inside of the engine compartment and heated the tip from the inside and had my buddy pump the ram. After the glue got hot (you could smell it) bloop the thing fell right out. I used a de-bonder too but I dont think this did any good it was the heat of the propane torch that did the trick. No damage to the glass at all and after the thing got hot it didn't really take much pulling.

Not that you have to get a ram or any thing like that you could hook it up to a truck or anythin that would provide some pressure to pull it out.

Two of my tips dont have the internal metal flange, these are for the center engine. I will have to rig up something else to pull with.

THE KEY IT THE HEAT OF THE TORCH! (Thanks to an OSO member)

close up of gear puller, I used a couple of long hose clamps to spread the jaws out so they would not slip out.

Done,

On the last two tips without the flanges I just heated them up hotter than the others and wrestled them out by hand. Using the puller was much easier but not necessary if you heat them up enough. There was more smoke and fumes doing it this way though.
