Default Mechanical Fuel Pumps

Anyone using mechanical fuel pumps for blower applications?
I am presently running an Edelbrock #1712 that pumps 130 gph.
It would be easier to stay with the mechanical style but am open to suggestions.
Thanks in advance for any replies.

I ran the stock Merc mechanical pump on my blower motor. B&M 250, Dominator 1050. Fuel pressure was always great and never dropped off.

130gpm...tat a hell of alot of fuel. Whats that need for fuel lines, 3" ID?

Yeah, that pump could empty my tank in 1 minute Good God it takes 10 minutes to fill ( and not from empty)
Now think about for a minute...that's over 2 gallons per second

Im using the Carter Competition Series pump (PN# M61045) that is rated 172GPH@8psi and requires no regulator.
The body was also drill and tapped for larger fittings.
Twin 750's on top 10-71's

I have been running a holley or edelbrock but I think I will try this carter next time. I like no regulator on eless ristriction or hose to run! Why the larger fittings? What size do they come with. Found them in summit but no mention of port size.

CP Performance stocks the 172 gph mechanical pump. It has -10AN in let and -8AN outlet and as mentioned, runs 6-8 lbs no regulator required.

I think they are 170.00 or so

Kurt.

used mech.pumps on almost everything as long as it has pressure and volume ,,BOTH !
Stay away from 90 degree fittings as they cut flow in half at the fittings ,
The set up depends on RPM's as well ,,,6000 and 540 the mech should be fine just rember volume not just pressure
Holley pressure regulators only have a 130 thou. hole to flow fuel so use a mallory or barry grant and if you can run a return reg . .....line from reg.back to tank this keeps fuel cool and saves pump from dead heading ,its easy with mallory reg.
