Default Normal water Pressure for 500EFI???

Just installed Gaffrig water press. gauges....And when running the engines on the hose through the fresh water flush, the gauges are only showing 1 lb of pressure. At idle up to 2000rpm. the press. stays the same.....I tappped into the thermastat housing, where the water flows between the intake manifold and the inlet side of the circulating pump.Is this the wrong place to tap in????
Thanks
Steve

Most all Fountains I've seen, including mine, have the pressure hose hooked up at one of the side block drains.
