Hi Guys!!

I'm kinda new to speed boats and I'm looking for information on how to properly trim a speed boat. Are there and good articles anywhere?

Welcome Leathl! Trim up until you achieve max speed with max rpm, or until the boat starts to porpoise. If the prop blows out you went too far.

Do a search on trim on this sight. We have talked about that before. You won't find a better performance boat reference than the search function on OSO.

Good Luck,

BT

Thanks Blue Thunder. I just saw the search at the bottom. I will check that out.

If I go too far can I hurt anything in the drive?

If you can run in a long straight away just keep tapping the drives up a little at a time until the top speed is reached. Then remember your numbers and mark them on the indicator. Some boats respond differently than others so be aware of whats going on and be carefull.

You cant really hurt the drives if you be carefull. If the props slip too much your rev limiter will kick in. (If you have one)

What kind of boat and power do you have?

Its a 84 27 foot Monza with a 330 Mercruiser. I have no revlimiter. I'm going to look into getting one.
