My boat is taking on water
I noticed yesterday that my bilge pump started coming on an awful lot. I opened the hatch and noticed water coming in at a pretty good clip, maybe a gallon or so every couple of minutes, I assumed it would be the the bellows or the hose coming in just above the shaft to the outdrive. It was neither. The water appears to be coming out of the bell housing at the rear of the engine. Any suggestions as to what the problem could be ??
The boat is a 38' Cig TopGun with 502's and bravo's
Help, Ineed a fix before the NYC Poker run !!!!

Could be a freeze plug on the rear of the engine block. I know its not running but it is below the water line so water will come in. I would get the boat out of the water now. If, or should I say when, it gets worse the pump may not be able to keep up.

Im with Cord on this...
The most common (IMO) is the 90* elbow for the raw water inlet. If thats what you say is not leaking (hose just above the drive shaft) then you may have to pull the houseing to check the o-ring.
Does it show any signs of shifting inside or out?
I wouldnt feel comfortable boating on Lake George knowing the tow rig is in the shop.
Good luck and keep us informed.

Bob;
Have you had any luck finding the leak? Let us know. The alternative to repairing it is to trade it to me for my Checkmate and let me worry about the leak while your on the NYC poker run.

Answer this then, If I put it on the hose and run it while on the trailer, this would eliminate al other option correct ?? It wouldnt be the bellows or a seal or gasket problem correct ??
