Bravo1 vs. Dock Lines Long!
Some dumb ass let his dock lines fall over and I ran over the top during low tide plowing the mud out of my marina. The boat just died and wouldn't restart and the shift lever was very hard to return to center and then would only click when the key turned. Using my 2H.P. set of ors, got back to the dock, trailered the boat and found the lines around my prop. It looked like a steer wrestler was made at it. Anyway, the boat started right up after the line was removed. Why wouldn't it start before the line was removed? I am guessing that the shifter never actually got the drive in netural because the rope had the prop lucked. Am I correct? Also, I bet it isn't good on thing trying to shift when the prop is all locked up. Everything seemed fine and we continued our evening of boating.

Well, because the cone clutch was under such load and locked up tight, you probably weren't really in neutral. You just probably just strained cables and linkages enough to make the control appear to be in neutral. Anyway, next time - best to jump in and clear the prop before forcing anything. --- Jer
