Default Valve cover breathers

Do I need to plumb the breather hoses to the flame arestor or can I just put a breather on the valve cover and have a clean look. Do you need the vaccum of the carb to pull the breather fumes into the carb ?
Sounds like a simple question....just do not want any excessive pressure in the crank case.

Just the breathers should work fine. If you don't have baffles in the valve covers, they may drip a little oil though.
