Default Exhaust Question

I pulled the quick/quiet tips off my hammer and while doing so I noticed a muffler type peice of metal inside the exhaust hose. Should this stay, or should I yank it out.....I tried pulling it but it's real snug in there. If this requires just buying a pair of new exhaust hoses thats fine too because the other hose has some inner peices tearing off.

If you have the 4" dia. hose from the riser to the exh. tip, that hose has an internally wound wire sandwiched between the plys of rubber you shouldn't see it at all. if it's at the very end of the hose then cut it flush and put on your new tips if it's in the middle of the hose where the exhaust and water pass thru replace the hose. that wire is to help keep the hgose from collapsing

it's a pretty big metal peice....but it's on the port side only.....if it were to keep the hoses from collapsing shouldn't I have 2?
