Engines- "The Sonic Project"
Finally, engine assembly to start maybe next week!!!
Here are few details:
454 4bolts- .030 over
Steel cranks-balanced
Forged Rods w/7/16 ARP bolts, resized & balanced
Forged pistons 9:1
Rectangular heads- cc'd, 2.25 intakes, "massaged"
Crower Custom Roller Cam-
intake- 303*
exhaust-311*
lobe seperation- 108*
Duration @ .050 lift - int- 244*
exh-256*
1.7 Roller Rockers
Crower roller lifters,
3 angle valve seats, guides cut for seals
7/16 Crower push rods
Dart/Team G Single plane intakes w/1050 Dominators
Align bored, ,Decked, Torque Plate honed and balanced.
Lightning headers.....
Pictures will follow after assembly.....
I sort of wanted some critique on OSO....
Have at it "motor heads"

You haven't done any homework on this combination.
Heads, camshaft, intake manifold and carburetor will work great at 6,500 rpm. At 5000 rpm it will be a dog. Better crank that motor up with a low pitch prop!
Don't idle that engine, with the 108 LSA and 244/256 camshaft, it will fill up with water really fast.
You can get by with the big heads (a small loss in performance) but you better go with a much smaller camshaft and a dual plane intake manifold with a 750 Holley.
Good luck, you will need it!

I also had concerns in that regard.... however we have this combo in a twin 29 Fountain that runs like a rocket!! Yes, the motors run tight by using smaller diameter props.... but this runs 95 in the Fountain and accelerates like crazy. It definitely requires "late" entry of water into the exhaust to prevent reversion.... but it has worked well in the Fountain.... The builder used to run Top Fuel, Funny cars, & drag boats..... his stuff does hold up well under abuse.....
My fingers are crossed too!! I have both 1.5 & 1.36 drives to use also.. I can always switch carbs anytime if needed... I am now a year into this project and it must hit the water next spring!

I too am concerned about that 108 lobe seperation. That is tight. No doubt that it will rev up fast. Does that Fountain you have this combination in run dry exhaust?

Yes, it does run up almost 6k @ 95, but that is with 1.5 drive, Spinelli small diameter 29" labbed props . I will be using 1.36 hopefully.
No, the exhaust is not dry... but the water does not enter the exhaust until right before the transom. It is as loud as dry pipes though. Really sounds good!!

A friend has a similar set-up on a 540. He was getting a bit of reversion, so he extended the inner pipe of his risers right out through to the end of the tips. Basically, it is dry. The water and exhaust gases mix at the end of the tip. Works well, but is real loud.

According to Lightning, they are developing a set of matched mufflers for this type application. I may be one of the first inline for it. You are correct, it is almost like dry pipes! Sounds wicked!!
If I get tired of it, I can always drive my "blown Formula" that full wet exhaust.
