Yea, mine does too. I bought mine from West Marine and the guy said he would send it back to be looked at. I don't know what their going to find. What, are they going to plug it in and shake it?

Try going on the Garmin Web page and see if there is any issues on that particuliar unit. Also you may be able to download software changes that they have made. All of that is free and can be done at home.

Actually, it doesn't have to be rough for mine to shut off. I'll look down and for no reason it will be off.

check your power source I had a fish finder that would do that from power surges from the alternator ran it directly to the battery and this resolved the issue.

Also , check your ground wire , my Lawrance would do the same thing and was very annoying to say the least. Good luck and happy holidays Mike

My new 182C shuts off when I hit the trim at idle (see thread in the Formula forum - electrical bug). Will look for causes in the spring when she comes back out of storage. Suggestions made have been bad ground connection somewhere and high current draw from bad trim pump. Let me know if you fin the problem.

Run your ground and power directly to the battery and you will probably solve your issue. My 162 and my depth sounder did the same thing until I ran common wires for them and a couple of other things. Get them off your ignition circuit if that's where it's drawing power.
