Default power trim problem

I know this isin't the big bad off shore machine but I could still use alittle help. Ok it's a Bayliner with a 125 force I bought the boat and the power trim didn't work and the motor was down so we had to raise it to get it home. A friend and I muscled the motor up, got home and put it back down to check out the motor when we were finshed we were raising it back up and something popped now the motor goes up and down very east not like before at all. Come to find out one of the seals was bad in the upper part of the trim motor and it got water in it. But what did I do to it when I was raising it up. Should it be so easy to move. Maybe thats how it,s supposed to be and it was frose up before I don't know.
