Default Friend bought a boat...questions

Hey Guys,

A buddy of mine bought a boat without my consent (what was he thinking anyway? ) Is a 1990 Baja 210ES with a 7.4 carb. What was the standard horsepower on that year/gen of 7.4? Any known problems with that year of boat or motor that I should look into? Any simple upgrades for horsepower improvements? (Is anything simple on a boat that's 14 years old)!

Thanks guys,
Dave

Not sure but if it's not a Magnum I think it's 330 hp.

330 hp - very reliable in stock trim - not a good candidate for hp upgrades - from what I'm told.

1990 magnum was 365hp.
The 1990 "non Magnum" was 330hp.

We gotta know which motor it is to advise on hop ups cause the two are very different.

The 1990 Bravo 1 drive came with a very weak cone clutch. The 9 rib upgrade is pretty cheap and is recommended for sure if he's planning more power.

Thanks for the posts guys....I'm going to look at the boat on Tuesday. I'll have more details then. Nice catch mcollinstn on the bravo upgrade. I would never have known that one.

More details to come soon.

Where did you friend get this boat? Was it Indiana? If so, it sounds like Wette Vette's boat.

He bought it from a guy here in Wisconsin. Sounds like it might need a little interior help but the hull/exterior is supposedly in pretty good shape. I'll check with Wette Vette and find out any good tricks he has that have helped with his boat. Thanks for the heads-up.
