Thunderbolt IV Ignition Coil
HELP!!!!
My 89 Formula with a 7.4 L motor is having some problems. I suspect a cracked coil because when I start the motor it is shooting sparks from the center of the coil to both the positive and negative terminals. I am no motor expert but I don't think thats right. I know it has the Thunderbolt IV ignition. I just need to know what type of coil I need to replace it. I bought a 12 Volt coil from an auto parts store that looks like the same thing. It has "external resistance required" written on the side of the coil. It is from GP Sorensen and the part number is GC403. Does anyone know if I can use this coil or if it will hurt the motor. Thanks for the help.
