Good question. I have a pair of DPX-A drives ready to go in my Magnum 27, but like you, I don't have a hydraulic helm unit yet. Volvo-Penta wants about $750 for a new helm-unit for twins and close to that amount for the same unit for a single.

Anyone?

Hi guys,

If you are refering to the hydrualic helm unit that mounts under the dash for full hydrualic steering systems I can sell you non-adjustable 145cc helm units for $379 each, considering it will work on your DPX system. I do need to double check.

Just throwing that out there for you.

PM me if interested.

Thanks

Allan

The unit we carry will work with your system, assuming you are talking about the helm unit that mounts under the dash.

Hope that helps,

Thanks

Allan that's great . . . and yes, it's the unit that mounts behind the dash. I know that there are two different helm units available from Volvo-Penta: One for a single DPX outdrive (two steering rams) installation and another for a twin DPX outdrive (four steering rams) installation. I'm sure that most any five-port Char-Lynn type unit will work, I just want to be sure to get the unit with the correct size unit so as not to make the steering too quick or too slow.

Should have typed "four-port".

I guess I should contribute a few bucks to OSO so that I can at least edit my typos!!!

You are correct Forrest, that would be a 4 port.

You would be best served using a 160cc flow rate unit. I can sell you those at the same price as above.

I hope this helps you out.

Thanks

Allan
