Bad temp Gauge (attn 97BossHammer)
Hello all, first post, hope somebody can help.
I am having the same problem as 97BossHammer states in the following post.
http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/showthread/t-50875.html
Can anybody help??????????
Grounded the sender wire, which pegged my temp gauge. (means the gauge is ok, correct?)
Started the boat, poured hot water into the lower unit water intake(earmuffs) and the temp gauge read 160 degrees after about 10 minutes. (means the sender is ok, correct?)
I haven't replaced the thermostat, could that be the problem? Could it be stuck open causing cold water to be constantly sucked into the cooling system, allowing the motor to never come up to running temp????
Thanks
