Exhaust tips
Hello this is my first post and glad to be here. I own a 1987 glasstream free spirit the boat has thrue hull exhaust, the thing I dont like is the tips are too long for my liking I would like to put shorter units on. I was told by some friends that the long tips were for a reason and not to shortin them it may cause some sort of problems. Just wondering what I should do and thougt you guys might have some info for me on what to do.
Thanks, JIM

Welcome buddy
The length of tip shouldn't matter. You can put on any tip you like. I had 14" slash cut tips on my boat when i got it. I took them off and put on eddie marine 6" straight cut tips.

I wouldn't think that would be a problem. Short or long tips, they are still behind the boat and if there is exhaust soot present it will be on the transom with either tip

Go with the Drew Shot Gun tips, they divert the noise down at idle and open when you give it power, all automatic with no air, cables or electronics, it is done by forcing the spring loaded metal flapper open by exhaust pressure. They work great and are less expensive.
