Default starting in neutral

I have a single 496 mag HO with the gaffrig controls. As of late I have to move the gear lever around to find neutral position in order to start the boat. It shifts fine in forward and reverse. Is there something I can adjust to solve the problem. Thanks!!!

There is a micro switch in the unit itself... they sometimes need adjustment... I had the same problem with a Kiekhafer unit... I finally removed them and put in micro switches with roller balls on the little trigger arm. solved the problem...

Spoke to gaffrig support and they where not much help for solving the problem myself. They said I could send the shifter back and they would look at it.

After having a motor die and breaking a shift cable trying to get it back in to nuetral to start I disconnected mine. I always pull the lanyard so it will not start when we stop and anchor.

This might be a dumb question but is the neutral saftey switch easy to get to on the gaffrig controls. I have never pulled the controls out and looked.

Whats with that when the motor stalls and you need to get it back to Neutral ? Things need to be turning in the drive to shift EZ ?

Yes it is at least with mine. Mine has never been hooked up.

Yes, Bravo does not shift well at all without the motor running usually. Could not even turn it over with gear shift not in nuetral. Windy close to shore and rocks. Was not fun.
