Question Right Picth

I have a 24 ft BAJA with a 454 that has a Rampage 14 1/4 in x 22 SS prop on. I just installed a Holley carb that now makes the engine max out at 5200 - 5400 RPM at a top speed of around 55 mph on smooth water. This is too fast for the motor as the book gives max rpm at 4600.

What size and type prop do you think i should get to bring me back to a safe engine speed.

Any help would be greatfull

A 25 Mirage Plus in our Acclerator design will work great and put you in the correct rpm range ,you will get a great holeshot,with much better top-end speed. give me a call if we can help,Darin

patrick

I have a 25 pitch quicksilver RH in very good condition that I would sell cheap!!! you could use it as is , and/or have darin lab it for you to dial in perfect if you choose.

it is the same prop as the other two i use on my formula. with twin 330hp 454's running at 4600 like your single. my boat goes 64mph

let me know if interested..

my boat has a rampage 22 pitch SS prop that turns about 5200-5400rpm at WOT,
the marina had a laser II 25 pitch which i was told would work, now i turn 4200-4400
rpms at a speed of 56-58 mph on GPS.

talking to some friends, im told to try a 24p 4 blade, would that be better or should i stay with a 3 blade like a mirage

If you have a stock 454(not mag), a 23 bravo three blade or 22 bravo 1 four blade would be best, based on the boat I had with the same motor.

engine is rebuilt with 30 over pistons,a mild comp cam and a holley 715cfm carb

now the funny thing is that the ser.# says it is a standard 454, but it has the mag
heads and intake. i also put on aluminum exhaust w/ss risers
