New Mooring Cover Leaving Blue Stains
I recently purchased a new full mooring cover for my boat. With all the rain the last few days there was some water standing putting pressure from the cover to the upholstery. It has now left blue marks all over my new interior!! Has anyone ever run across this?? I’ve tried everything around the house and nothing seems to take it off!!

yup, my full cover used to leave blue marks on the piping around my bolsters but no place else like on the sun pad or hull,,,,, soft scrub w/ bleach took it off.. good luck... I now put the cockpit cover on and then the full cover over that to keep it off the vinyl..

Chris I gave that a try and it did lighten it up but did not remove it. I just can't believe this! Just got the upholstery back from the factory and put back in the boat. Matter of fact I always put the cockpit cover on 1st that the full cover, but didn't do it this time due to I am getting a new cockpit cover made. I find it hard to believe that a manufacture would produce a cover that would do this! I'll be tossing that cover, which is nearly brand new! Thanks for your help. I'm heading down to marine store to see if they have anything.
Thanks again

Try calling the vendor of the fabric. I would raise he!!. Seems that the cover was designed to cover a boat and should not stain the boat or any part thereof.

I went down to the shop I bought the cover from and they had never heard of it happening. They told me to bring it back so they could look at it. I was up all night trying to get that stuff off! I ended up taking a chance and tried paint thinner, no good, Clorox, no good, softscrub again , no good and that hit the magic solution!
Believe it or not fingernail polish did the trick. It came right off than I used a vinyl cleaner to clean off the polish remover. Never would have tried that, but figured the vinyl was shot anyway couldn't get much worse!
In the future avoid covers other than the canvas/ sunbrella material!

My new cover did that to mine. I took the cover to a local upholstry shop and had pieces of white vinyl sewn in to the cover to act as a pad where the cover came in contact with the boat. It works great and no more blue. By the way my vinyl was in need of replacing any ways.

My blue mooring cover did the same thing, so its cockpit cover first then mooring cover. the blue line faded out quite a bit in the sun, maybe I'll try the nail polish remover to finish it off!
I wonder if one of those 303 cleaners would work? their protectant and fabric guard have been very good.

Re: New Mooring Cover Leaving Blue Stains
I have a full cover (blue Sunbrella) that does not leave stains or marks on my boat. I also do not use the cockpit cover with it.
Just wondering, what are these covers that you are using made of ??
I take my cover to the cleaners once a year for cleaning and scotchgaurd.
Seamark is another great product with a sunbrella exterior and vinyl interior, but I think it would be too heavy to work with for a full cover if you have a lot to cover.

The cover I have is some type of nylon coated vinyl. The same material several boat manufacturers use in production cockpit covers. It stays waterproof for several years but once it starts to flake thats the end of it. You can't re-treat it.
