HELP! drive problem
Ok... I just put in a brand new 509 c.i. engine in my 28ft Donzi. (the drive is the stock bravo I). The first 20 min of riding the boat are problem free, however after 20 min some small, but annoying problems begin. Whenever the boat passes 3200 rpm, and hits a small wake ( i mean small, like the boat doesn't even come out of the water.) The rpms jump back at least 800/1000 rpm, but then come right back. Would this be a drive problem, or fuel pump problem???? Thanks in advance,
JP

Re: HELP! drive problem
You did not mention if your carburated or FI. Check your float levels and make sure you are getting enough fuel. Check your drive fluid.
Check the simple things first.
Good luck

Re: HELP! drive problem
Definitely not a drive problem, fuel related yes. I'm assuming that since the 509 is new your first check should be the fuel route. From tank to manual pump then to electric if applicable. Float height is after all the most crucial adjustment in a carburated motor application. Could be something stupid like too much water in the W/F seperator not allowing enough volume. Check the carb last if your confident that it was set up properly.
If your drive was causing a surge like that most of it will end up at the bottom of the lake/ocean whatever.......very soon, like the next time you use it.
Check the fuel route first, then go to electronics.
Ok, and you said "some" problems, are there other's? Do tell........
