Carb Help
Has anyone used a Barry Grant Sea Demon carb. I curently have an edelbrock 600 CFM marine carb. It's on a 5.7L 300 HP Mercruiser. Would there be any advantage switching to thr BG carb?
Thanks

Re: Carb Help
Probably not much difference in performance or fuel consumption on your application (if you're stock). The Edelbrock is a remake of the old Carter AFB design, but despite it's age it works quite well from my experience. The BG is an excellent carb though and well, looks a hell of a lot sexier! You might want to buy a recalibration kit for your carb and play with the metering rods and jetting to see if there's anything left in terms of tuning. Your carb is also dead easy to work on because you can lift the metering rods out without opening up the carb and then if you see a difference in performance you can easily access the jets from the top without even spilling a drop of gas.

Re: Carb Help
I played around with a lot of different carbs for my 400+hp SBC and didn't notice any performance advantages over the Edelbrock 750. You are getting close to maxing out that 600 cfm, you might see some performance gains with a 650. Mercruiser used a 750 as a stock carb but I doubt you need to go that big unless you plan on a rebuild. It will work great if jetted properly.
