prop help
I tried my new prop tues night. Still isnt work quite as I would like- the scoop--
old prop- 24p 4 blade bravo I - best gps 69.7 @ 5100 rpm with heavy load (runs faster with more weight) - can only trim to half or slightly more then its gets loose and chine walks
new prop - 25p 3 blade Mirage plus - saw 68.5 gps @ only 4800 rpm with 3/4 trim!! but didnt feel loose or chine walk at all, more trim really didnt do anything speed wise. I do get some slight blow out tring to plane, rpm jumps to 3800-4000 until boat catches up.
question- what are you guys triming to with a 3 blade compared to a 4 blade? does my situation sound alright? What should I do to this 3 blade to help top speed? anyone?
Im going to send my prop back to get tweaked, I want 200-300 more rpm out of it and want to try to allow it to grab more low end.
note- this prop was done by Darin at Houston prop, its his accelorator design. Boat, 1997 baja 232 with mild 502, 420ish hp

Re: prop help
How far is your drive mounted up from the bottom of the V?
I had a 98 232 Boss 385HP with a 23P M/P and would run 68 MPH GPS.
I have a 252 islander know and have the opposite problem. With a built up 502 and can spin a 24p Bravo 1 to 5200 RPM's and only get 66mph. Can trim all the way to half. Boat sticks to the water and can't get it out and never loose. Haven't found a good 3 blade to try yet.
Was your bravo 1 labbed?

Re: prop help
Im not sure where it is located, don't they all get put on at the same height?
WOW!! My 4 blade gives me a wild ride with more than half trim, im surprised yours was opposite. The four blade was labbed years back from a previous owner, im not sure what they did to it, but it works awesome!!

Re: prop help
Your 24 could of had some other things done to it besides just the labbing process. Mine is completley stock.
Here is mine running. You got any WOT shots to compare? I think I need more bow lift.

Re: prop help
racingbird,we talked about this today again,we can handle the rpm's,but the blow out issue is pretty notorious with the 3 blade on most Baja's.
as I mentioned the type of boating and handling you like the four blade is the better prop for you, maybe some others members will give you some feed back.
lab the four blade and keep the 3 blade as a spare.
