Default Will paint stick to teak?

My boat has a teak swim platform. Its in good condition but is dated because its teak and has turned gray. I don't think its ever been finished or oiled. Certainally not within the past 7 or 8 years. Is there any paint that will actually stick to this? Whats got to be done to prepare the surface?

I haven't installed it yet, but I painted some parts with EasyPoxy and it seems to adhere well. Comes out shiny too, even with a brush.

Call me crazy, but I'd try a cleaner and a brightener and then some teak oil.

You might be surprised how well it comes back, and it might actually look good.

I had a Nova with a teak swim platform (just sold it) and I got a lot of comments when it was cleaned and oiled up. It doesn't look so "dated" when its cleaned up.

It isn't hard work or expensive. Try it. You can strip it and paint it if you don't like it.

Use the "premium" teak oil.

Almost forgot.

Get:
1.teak cleaner 2.teak brightner 3.teak oil

just follow directions, very easy will take 30 min. Then keep up with oil when needs be.

Unless you don't want the look of teak, then by an alum pipe-rail platform powder coated. I think paint on a platform may not look good.

Paint will eventually lift off of teak. As the oil works up underheath it it will start to lose adhesion. If the teak is real old and dry it will take much longer, so you may never see it come lose.
