Default Stellings drive shaft problems

I am thinking of adding a pair of Stellings extention boxes to my V hull. Wondering is the drive shaft has proven to be trouble free for others using it.
Thanks, Jeff Stone

keep it well greased and make sure the access doors are sealed well. The less you have to raise the box the straighter the u-joints will be

CMS,
are you running the stellings carrier bearing assy? How has it held up?
If you have the stellings carrier bearing, have you compared it to the merc unit?
Which do you think is stronger?

I think that the biggest difference is that the merc. carrier is a single bearing and the stellings is two bearings.

Using the IMCO shaft would require using the stock Merc coupler vs the Stellings coupler then---right?

Yes, the Imco shaft uses the stock Bravo coupler.

Does anyone know about how much power a stock Merc coupler is good for after passing the 500hp mark?

I've been running 600 plus through a standard coupler, grease and alignment, hopefully I will get the box installed for next year. I know there are a lot of guys running big HP through Standard Merc couplers. How long they last may be another thing, I think the maintenace program has alot to do with it. My o2.
