Perko makes a small basket style strainer that works great for intercoolers.A company Lewis marine is a dealer for Perko.

Stainless Marine makes one just for intercoolers with a fine mesh screen. The passages in the core are smaller than the passages in your block so this makes sense. But you have to make sure the strainer itself is not blocked before running. Ask for Brownie; tell him tomcat sent you.
