Default Drive Alignment Tool for XRs

What is the P/N for the alignment tool for XRs?
Is it different than the standard Bravo tool?
Where is the best, translated cheapest place to get one?
Has anyone had them made for sale?

Thanks
Shawn

hmmmm......i would think its the same as the bravo tool. Only because you can install the x series drives inplace of a standard bravo.......just being a bearing change from what i understand.......maybe just have to machine the bravo tool for the new bearing size now that i think about it???

I looked up 91-805475A 1 for the standard transom and 91-840965A 1 for the integrated transom models.

The X style gimble bearing has a larger ID for the larger input shaft on the X drives. I forget how much bigger, but i thought it was like .050 or somehting???

anyway the standard bravo alignment tool will fit through the gimble bearing, but there will be a little play in it (.050 or so) due to the larger ID of the bearing.

I didn't hear of a new one that came out. maybe Merc doesn't think that .025 slop (.050 divided by 2) would be cruicial in aligning a motor ?

The bearing ID for XZ/XR bravos is the same as std. B1 drives. The width of the XR/XZ bearing is slightly different, but the same alignment tool works for both.

ah so its wider?? more support??? may be a nice upgrade for a standard bravo one if the bearing needs to be replaced

If you are purchasing an alignment tool, get the one for the ITS. It can be used for all Bravo's and it is easier to use.

I think all of the newer Bravo transoms now use the new shorter bearing. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe you can tell if it's the shorter bearing because it has a red paint dot on it. I will look closer at one tomorrow and get back to the thread if I am wrong.

it does have a red dot.

and it is a shorter bearing....not larger ID like i thought earlier. they say it is shorter to give clearence for the larger u-joints on the X series.

What Falcon said. Serial # 0M and up all come with the new bearing.
