Default Tilt problem

Hi
I am having a problem with the power tilt on my 1970's TRS leg. It works
well in the up direction, however in the down direction the pump runs but
the leg is very slow to go down. And sometimes it will start going back
up again even though the pump is still going down. sometimes when the the leg is put up it drops slowly back down. The rams have had a seal kit and new hoses but it hasn't helped.
Do you know what i should replace next?

Cheers

If the rams were just resealed or the hoses just replaced , it could be air bound and just needs bleeding.
If the pump is operating , there's not much more it could be.

Sounds like a problem with the hold mechanism in the pump(counterbalance valve). Not totaly familiar with your pump but they all opperate on basic principals. When the pump energises the extend circuit it relies on a counterbalance(hold) valve to keep the leg extended. When the the retract circuit is energised there is a pilot signal to release the valve. It sounds like your valve is only partialy opening. The cylinders have an impact relief sytem built into the in the form of balls and springs wich are most likly letting the oil past them due to the pressure build up making the rams extend due to rod displacement.I would pull the pump and hook the lines together and run in both directions to listen for a load created by pressure build up.I bet it will pump fine with the lines unhooked dumping into a pail and will load up when opperating the pump in the retract mode.

Should say will load up when pumping in retract mode with lines hooked together
