Default leaky exhaust manifolds baby!!!!!

helped a friend of a frined out with his cruiser. Boght it used early this season, ran wella few times. the started to run crap then barely ran at all. It sat most of the summer and fall now he wnats to sell it. BUT he nees to getit runnign ok before he sells.

its a 96 baot with volvo duoprop drives (they seem kinda smallish, the case is abtou teh size of an alpha) and volvo engines i believe they are efi 5.0 (ford engines)

as it was decsribed to me i heard 250 hours in salt raw water cooling newish to baoting my first thoughw as water in teh engine due to leaky manifolds. When i got in eth bilge i saw rust on eth outside of teh seals and the manifold. When we pulel dthem they look nice and rusted out on the inside too.Additioanally he had a wasted (melted tip) on #8 cylinder. Correspoding manifold looked the worst in you guessed in #8.

The engines still run just run kind of crappy. What do you thnk needs to be done on eth rebiuld? No choc milk or anything and it never hydrolocked. I was thining just pull the heads and get them done and the bottom ends should be fine.

any thoughs or suggestions? When i had an engien with a reversion problem i took the simple route and bought anew more powerfull engine witah blower and headers

also are there aftermarlket exhuasts for volvo 5.0s and are they any better/cheaper?

I would do a leak down test or compresion test at min to try and dertermin what you need to do. That will tell you in a instant.

no can do intake is already off and engien is being prepped to be pulled. I brough my leakdown and compression guage but we coudnt; heat up the engines because the boat is out of teh water and has no way to hookup cooling water to the engine. and a colod leakdown is kinda useless
