Single Dominator vs Dual Dominators
Has anyone ever compared single carb to duals? Wondering how much difference it would make going to a tunnel ram and dual 1050's.
Boat 38'
Motors Twin 9.1:1 Merlin headed 540's
Cams Crane 631??? (The 584/610 roller hydraulics)
Carbs Single 1050's

Re: Single Dominator vs Dual Dominators
What about differnt sizes of Dominators.
I have a pair of new 750 Dominators. Thinking they're probably too small except Possibly mild cruising.
A pair of 1050 single four application carbs
A pair of 1050 dual four application carbs Annular's ???
A pair of worked probably 1200cfm carbs
And one 1379CFm single carb I could duplicate??????
Thanks,
Don

Re: Single Dominator vs Dual Dominators
I had 2 750's on a Holley tunnel ram with a solid roller cam and Merlin heads. The boat is faster now with a single 1050, a hydraulic roller cam and AFR heads and it's easier to deal with all around. Spend your money on better heads or porting.

Re: Single Dominator vs Dual Dominators
I entered this thread thinking it was about "Twin Dominatresses"
Your engine(s) are currently set up to only burn so much fuel. Increasing fuel input will make them run cooler. Running too lean will increase engine temp through severe detonation and eventually burn holes right through the pistons, etc, etc, etc. Finding that sweet spot is somewhat tricky but that is one of the many reasons you dyno an engine to establish fuel flow through monitoring HP and EGT(exhaust gas temperatures).
you can adjust and even change the jets in your carbs to change fuel flow significantly. Without dynoing it is a crap shoot as to whether you gained anything or are just wasting fuel or on the verge of buring them up. I would listen to 10X and not touch them.
