Sea Strainers
What kind of raw water strainers are you guys using?
I see the prices range all over the place.
Are any that much better than others?
I need to buy one soon and looking for opinions.

Re: Sea Strainers
It's hard to beat the Gil Strainers.
Compact, easy to open and they do a very good job. I had a buddy talk me out of some very expensive ones for the Gil and I am glad he did. Have been running them three seasons with no complaints.

I am considering the Gils based on the advice of Innovation Marine.
I've looked at the other "pretty" ones and the Gils are the most functional based on their design.

Hey Fred,
Where can a guy buy those at?, Uh, I mean will you give me any trade in for the Gils?
Stormrider, Yes mine are exactly like you have pictured. Trust what Fred is telling you, he will not steer you wrong. Good to hear that there may be a better mouse trap out there.

You are going so fast your drives cannot be low enough in the water to pick anything up!
If you did, those big engines would chew it up and spit it out!

Re: Sea Strainers
Why run sea strainers. I have seen people pickup sand, etc. with them and ruin their pumps and mine without sea strainers just runs on through and keeps going. Is there really an advantage or is it just in your mines?
I have fresh water cooling if this matters. Just asking, since I do not have them and see no advantage
