454 manifold suggestions
I would appreciate any suggestions on intake manifolds. It will be for a 454, large rectangular port chevy heads, mild roller cam, Holley carb, MSD ignition and dana exhausts. The max I would spin is 5000-5200 rpm. It's been suggested that I keep the stock but I find it hard to belive that an aftermarket wouldn't give me a little more torque/HP.
Please clear the smoke and break the mirrors! I need to buy one soon.

Re: 454 manifold suggestions
Edelbrock air gap rpm or Victor Jr dart is also a good choice I took off the stock intake and carb on a merc 400 put on victor jr and 830 holley and picked up 3mph thought that was good bang for the buck but the boat already had exhaust on it.

Do you have the stock alum High rise 454 mag intake or the 330hp intake?
I was going thru the same thig this winter. From others that have been there I decided to stay with my 454 Mag intake and use a 1" spacer. A friend with the same setup as me said he changed to a Victor and gained 25 rpm on top, but hurt his midrange.
The stock 454 Mag intake looks an aweful lot like a Weiand Team G dual plane. Although it is a Winters intake the same that was used on the LS6 454 from GM.
Like this Weiand 7535, It doesn't seem to be in the current catalog.

Re: 454 manifold suggestions
Since you want a mild 454, I would go with an Air Gap RPM. For a higher revving 454, I would use a Wiend Accellerator. Merc used them on the 420 HP with a 1" thick 4 hole spacerand a Holley 800. For an all out 454 that might rev to 6000, I would use the same Dart single plane that is used on the 500 HP.

Re: 454 manifold suggestions
I agree with some of the other guys, I would go with the Edlebrock Air-Gap dual plane intake manifold....especially with it being a 454 with rectangle port heads which are too large in my opinion to begin with for a 454cid marine engine. It's not written in stone---but that's the route I would go. Have fun!

Re: 454 manifold suggestions
Payton, the existing manifold is not a high rise. The motor is an omc although I'm sure the manifold is a chevy part; probably the same as the merc 330 hp intake.
For the rest of you the compression is a 8.8:1 but will come out to almost 9:1 when the build is over. I would love to give you the cam specs but it is a custom grind retro fit hydraulic roller cam from the engine builder. All I can tell you is that the cam is mild enough that I will have no reversion problems with my captains call.
The builder estimates the power will be 450-480 hp when all is said and done. He is recommending a merc intake but I wanted an idea if I could do a little better with an aftermarket part.
