Are these cradles sold by summit any good?

I use them all the time. The only problem I found is that you can only roll it around on smooth surfaces. The wheels are not the best, I was rolling around a big block on it just recently. I rolled over the little expansion joint in the concrete between the garage floor and the driveway and lost a wheel. Luckily, the motor did not tip over. They work great otherwise. I picked a couple of them up on E-Bay.

i use them but i go to northern hyd. and get a furniture dolly and bolt it to it through where the wheels go ,it has bigger wheels rolls better and makes it stronger

good for a long block , i think a full dressed motor might be heavy.

I have a couple, but I only use them for small blocks and short blocks if it's a big block.
Mike 280s idea with the dolly is a good one. I wish I'd thought of it!

we put full dressed motors on these no problem at all two sheets of plywood and 4 good rollors about twenty $ more and they work great

Dave, I've got two of the Summit cradles. They work ok for storage, but as noted above, the wheels tend to break easily and you must remove the bell housing, coupler, and flywheel to attach them to a BBC. Also, on one of my motors, the older type starter had to be removed to allow it to be attached. Too much trouble. The stands I prefer are called MotoFeet and are sold by Doug Herbert Perf.. They attach to the motor mount bosses and are very strong. I've test run a HP500 and a 525SC on these stands with zero problems. Both of these motors were fulldress, from bell housing to altenator and seawater pump. They don't come with castors, you have to order them seperatley. Get the steel castors as the rubber ones fall apart in short order. They are also much easier to attach. Chuck

Check this guy's stuff out. I bought some cradles from him last year. Nice strong stuff and good american casters. He will also modify them for you if you want. I asked for mods to work with large oil pans and also some tie down points for transport. Kurt was great to work with.
