experience with UNI-Top CMI??
Thinking of purchasing the CMI UNI-Top one piece exhaust and tail pipes. Has anyone had experience fitting this exhaust. I was told that it can be difficult to get to line up with the thru hull fittings. I found a great deal on two sets and can save big money over the regular E-tops with new tail pipes. I am replacing my Gil exhaust so i will need new tail pipes.
I have a 38' 96' scarab with 454's and Bravo drives.

My friend had to make some mods to the pipes to fit his TRS setup.
It's not uncommon making provisions for new exhaust.
I'll be doing the same thing in about a month.
Good Luck!

I put Unitops on my Pantera 2 years ago. I switched from the stock Merc/Gils on my 525SC. Everything lined up just fine. The tail ends are only about 2" from the tips.

My Unitops dump water at the ends of the pipes, about an inch in from where the water jacket ends. They are 2-3" longer than the Gils and dump closer to the transom than the Gils.

Re: experience with UNI-Top CMI??
i guess my fear is that i may not have enough distance between the end of the tail pipe and the cut-outs? From what i was told, they have to line up wiyh the transom holes exactly because there is no flexibility in the tails like on the E-tops? If i come 1/4" high or low will i still b able to fit the rubber exhaust hose to the cut-out?

FOUNTAIN333,
I just measured and i dont think the UNI-Tops are going to work. I have them on hold at a CMI distributer. My cost not including shipping was 4,397. for two sets with all fittings. They had one set and brought the other set in for me. I will let you know after I confirm my measurements.

Hey griff, your boat is probable wrapped up for the winter, but would you happen to know the dimension from the crankshaft centerline UP to the CENTER of your thru-hull opening??? I measured from the center of the gimbal pivot up and measured xcross to the center of the thru-hull and I came up with 12 7/8". I was told that you neen 13 7/16" and that you need to be dead on??
