Default Cam timing adjustment

What is the best method for adjusting cam timing... bushings, offset key, adjustable timing set? I have one engine needing 110ICL and coming in at 108-108.5ICL. Would prefer to use the new timing chain sets I have (three keyway type) unless there is a compelling reason to spend money on adjustable sets.

i have found that the 3 way timing sets are not very accurate they work but the easy way is with a cloys hex adj ,it's very easy to use and cost friendly unless you are using a solid roller and i would use comp cams billet timing set with offset bushings the big spenders use jessel belt drives, way cool and only 700$

Would you worry about being off by 1.5* advance sunsation240?

BT, if the timing set is new, it will stretch a little and bring you closer to your goal. Id leave it. I try to get mine right on but +/- 1 degree isnt likely to affect our speeds much, as least thats what ive been told. I had a hex ajust once. Its great if you have a 2 piece timing cover too, then you can play. I use bushings to set mine within a degree.

Don't you have three choices for which keyway to use?
What are the variations?

2 degrees? I'd want it closer.

I should have been clearer. If Im 1 degree advanced when I check it I leave it, more than 1 degree I use a bushing. If I am retarded at all, I use a bushing. Fortunatly, I have lots of bushings. LOL

Thanks for the replies fellas. The keyways advance or retard 4* cam timing. That would move me to 12.5* or 2 1/2* retarded. I am going to work the position of the timing gear some to see if I can't get the 110. If not, I guess I'll try the bushings.
