I'm not offended at all. However, you answer my question by asking me the same question in return. Not sure I understand that. I have learned a lot from this thread, but I hate this whole my brand is better than yours that on this board. My question was why used 36 Outlaws with one engine package, which is a very expensive upgrade, is about the same price as a 36 Outlaw with smaller, less expensive engines in the used boat market right now. This is comparing one 36 Outlaw to another 36 Outlaw. How does this turn into Formulas and Fountains are better than Baja. I just don't get it.

I understand the question & a perfect example is a 29 Outlaw that Hawkeye has for sale with hp500's in it. They want $85k for it. The same boat with MAG 502 mpi's or MAG 454 mpi's for that matter will be listed in the $60-$65k range. Step down into the 454mpi's & you are in the mid $40's. WTF gives there? What about the 36 that sold this spring out in AZ with hp500's in it for around $70k? My boat is for sale & is "over priced" but that don't say a thing for what it will sell for.
The bottom line here is what does the boat actually sell for? It may be listed high & the book may say another, but rember the only book that ever bought anything was the check book.

take off the defensive glasses and realize I am not proclaiming one brand better than the other! Jeez...

It's about marketing, and market perception, period, as I have said.

what you say in this quote about outlaw vs outlaw just backs me up!

I never "bashed" your brand, and was in fact complimentary about the value they represent.

with an "upscaled" (expensive) brand B boat (power/options) that "value" brand marketing and market perception will bite you in the azz when you go to sell it!

and you won't pull alot more than black power $ out of it.

for example only I was just getting across the point that a boat marketed with a different stategy...Formula for example, blue motors are gonna hold more % value in that boat vs. black.

can you get that?
