Yeah, and hopefully when that happens no one gets hurt or killed.

Sydwayz is the man when it comes to towing knowledge. Thanks for all the info.

Not trying to put a damper on the thread, but thought it was worth mentioning. Most people I know just figure that if Dodge says you can haul 16,000 lbs than you can hook up to it and go. I know I was under that impression until I did my research. I was shocked with my findings.

I remember seeing a hummer pulling a 42 Fountain on the boat ramp at LOTO a few years back with a hollow hitch. I just shook my head and hope the boat veers to the right when the hitch breaks and hits nothing of any value.

A customer of mine towed his brand new 35' O/L to my shop yesterday with a H2SUT. Didn't look too safe.

34' Aluminator Trailer

Cat scale Certified 17,486

Truck weighed in at 6,842

Spent the Extra for a 12,000 lb hitch and a 16,000# rated ball bar (Installed $347) Pretty cheap insurance if you ask me.

Well, if all your number are right then I'm a LOT heavier then I thought with my rig.

Boat = 8400 lbs per the crane scale when lifted off flat bed.

Gear on board is an easy 500 lbs.

Fuel on board boat (235 gals) = 1700 lbs

Myco Trailer according to Myco = 2200 lbs

Boat & Trailer Total = 12,800 lbs

F-350 4 x 4 Diesel Dually Ford Crew Cab = 6800 lbs per Ford

90 Gallons of Diesel = 630 lbs.

Tool box and tools = 250 lbs

Misc Gear = 250 lbs

Total for truck = 7930 lbs.

Now I think I'm at 20,730 lbs before people and have a 20,000 lb tag on my truck, but from what I'm reading I could be, or should be even heavier then that.

Dock,
It looks like you need a truck like mine!! As for the weight you need not worry about the tag as recreational vehicles (boats & campers) are exempt.

As long as your have been my lawyer, and with all the money I have paid you I think that is the first valuable legal information I have received.

Oops, I guess I have actually not ever paid you anything.
My Bad

P.S. Did you come downtown today and watch me in my roll with Rene? I'm liking this movie star Chit! Looks like I may be moving to Hollywood. I'll have to change my name to Dock Hollywood!
