Weighed my truck & boat yesterday
1999 29 Outlaw 1/2 tank of fuel tripple axle Heritage steel trailer.
2004 2500 HD Chevy Duramax 4x4 30 gallons of fuel
grand total = 17954 lbs.
I forget the "each" totals, but they were within a couple of hundred pounds of each other.
Kinda scarry when the truck carries 85 gallons of fuel & the boat 150. Plus gear & beer puts the rig into that 20k neighborhood, or close anyway.

Yea, I have a 60 gallon aux. in the bed, under the cover.
My computers were supposed to be on their way back from Tyler Crockett today, but his brother said he never showed at the shop today. Other than that I'm "done". Right now I'm on the side of being pissed that Tyler let me down today. But, I don't know his side of the story, so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt.
Hopefully, a fuel pump & 2 working computers will show up on Thursday so I can go to Austin Thursday night.
If not, I'm gonna be pissed off like never before!

It is crazy how much a boat trailer combo can weigh. It is also crazy how many grossly overweighted pickups you see with huge boats behind them. What is the Chevy rated for on the tag along? I'm Guessing on a factory tow package it is 10,000 and 12,000 with a weight dispersing hitch.
I just did some research on my 2005 Dodge 3500 with the cummins in it. The verdict was that the tag along rating on a 3500 is only 10,000 and 12,000 on a weight dispersing. That 15,800 and 16,200 tow rating that brag about is for a gooseneck or fifth wheel application. My Gross combined is rated to 23,000 so I am ok on that but I am going to have to buy a good class 5 hitch and reciever so I am closer to 14,500 or 15,000 on the tag along in the future.
I have had no issues with my technically overweigted factory hitch, but would hate the liability if something ever went wrong and they tried to come after me liability wise.
Good luck with the project and I hope you get there Thursday Night ready to run.

Factory hitch is rated for 7500 lbs. weight carrying or "tag along".

Most poeple have the hollow ball mounts which are not rated anywhere near that high in weight capacity.

Yea thats the sad thing most people don't think of the hitch as being the weak point, but on almost all applications above a 24ft boat you start to overload the hitch and receiver along with the ball. I switched mine last year to a ClassV receiver and 12k hitch and ball its solid and the shank on the ball is 1 1/4 so I don't think I'll have anymore troubles but someday we're going to hear a story about a guy loosing his boat and watching it go across the ditch.
