I owned a 38 Special and now own a 2003 442. I looked at e Black Thunder,Fountain47,Donzi45,and Sonic45 before purchasing the 442. I am very happy with my decision. There were things that I liked about each of the boats but the one that fits my needs better was the 442. We do some poker runs but also stay on the boat quite a bit on weekends. Just got back from a 10 day trip and stayed on the boat every night while we were gone.
I can't speak for the 420 as I have never owned one and the last one I rode on was about 6-8 years ago.

kr1276 / Thanks for the reply... Can you compare the size of the cockpit of the two... I luv the amount of room in the .38.
US1 / I really like that boat.. if I was in the market right now.. I would be talking with him. We are still in research mode..

My 38 had the rear bench without either the wraparound seat nor the entertainment center. The 442 has the wraparound rear seat and the entertainment center which takes up some room but with the ice maker, we now take a smaller cooler for the long trips. The only complaint about the seating is in the 442, you sit so low you can't really see out. We have some custom cushions made to sit on that allow you to sit up a little higher and see out.We prefer the 442 setup and we just got back from spending 9 nights on the boat. There is more storage in the 442. I have taken both boats to the Bahamas and had them both in rough seas. They are great boats for the money. The 442 burns more fuel, but it sure is nice if one goes down, I still have two engines to run on and it planes with no problem on two.
