I was hoping to see one of the motors on the dyno this week but Mark got way ehind with all the boats coming in for the Tickfaw 200 this weekend. He just finished a triple engine 47 Fountain and was trying to get a 35 Fountain done today for the run tomorrow.

He said he would be full blast on mine next week and get them finished up.

I should be 100% finished with the bilge this weekend and ready for the new motors. The bilge looks great and is a huge improvement from stock with all the wiring and plumbing really cleaned up.

I excited about your project and I will definately stay in touch and we can compare numbers. I'm thinking about starting with stock 32 pitch props and go from there. What are you running for props?

I love every boat and can always find something good in anything that floats. But we are truely Baja folks and have really enjoyed the 36 Outlaw. Funny but I was thinking last night while the wife and I were discussing this about the summer we bought the boat and hoping one day that I could add some big power and see what happens.

It would be stupid to be this far along and not find out.

I did the same thing many years ago with a car. Was just a few hundred dollars away from big power in it, made the decision to trade cars. Still think back time to time and regret not doing what I wanted to do first. I am talking 35 years or so!

Right now I am running 28" Labbed Maximus props. I have to run fiveblades otherwise it takes too long to get on plane. I am also going to be turning 6000 rpm with the new motors versus 5500 with the old. Hopefully the increase in rpm will get me my 5 mph I am looking for. Next year I am going back to stock length drives with the hope of getting back the speed I have lost along with being able to run 4 blades and still plane out OK.

Well they are finally ready. What was going to be simple became very complex and took about three time longer then I had planned.

But the bottom line is I could not be happier with Mark Boos and his team at Precision Marine. He has really educated me a lot on the engine building process and he has made it an enjoyable process as well. He really worked with me on this without ever a bad word even though I changed th plan twice.

First he was going to add new heads and Whipples to my existing 500's. Then the parts took too long to get from the original vendor and I finally received my money back and Mark ordered them for me (BUY YOUR WHIPPLES FROM MARK - TRUST ME). This put us three months behind. Then we decided to with new blocks and stroke them to 540 CI. He had no problem at all in changing the plans. Then I decided to keep the 500's in complete stock form so we started ordering all new accessories for the front and the back of the engine including but not limited to computers, wiring harness, pumps, brackets, pulleys, flywheels, oil pans, couplers, etc, etc, etc. Then about half the parts I ordered came in wrong. This put Mark in a bind because boating season was here and he was busy but he simply said "Welcome to my world" and we worked though it. The final product is simply awesome. The front is the exact setup that I have on the 500's with Merc blue pulleys, they have the MEFI4B computers, braided oil lines you name it. We spared no expense and Mark did it right and exactly the way I wanted them. The rigging to me is harder then the actual engine building but Mark and his crew do outstanding work.

If you ever want to see a real first class professional run engine shop complete with a full machine shop and state of the art dyno room Presision Machine in Kenner, LA (New Orleans) is the place to go. They do EVERYTHING 100% in house except for balancing a crank. Mark is the best computer man I have ever seen. He talks so far over my head it is not funny. But the key thing I have learned in this process and want to share with you all is this. Most of us can build an engine, but it takes someone like Mark that has done it for 30 years who knows all the down falls and what not to do to really build a strong and reliable package. If you are going to spend the money and want it right the first time you need Mark Boos or someone just like him. You wouldn't go to the eye doctor for a heart attack and you don't take your Harley to Walmart for service. Go to the specialist that knows what he is going. One thing you will learn about Mark being around him and talking with those in the industry that know him well is he helps a lot of folks with computers. Man can this guy make a computer talk!

Okay we set these bad boys up at 800 HP with 6-1/2 PSI of boost at 5400 RPM. They actually made 824 . The best was 950 HP with 11 PSI of boost and they made an easy 705 HP at 5200 RPM with only 3 PSI of boost. These things are torque monsters and drives are the next big concern. I'm waiting to see what Conrad comes out with this fall and if they don't offer anything better then IMCO I plan to upgrade to the SCX this coming winter.

It's been fun and I'm glad i finally did it.

I want to thank Mark and his team along with Dustin Whipple who was a big help and a pleasure to deal with.

The bilge has completely been re-rigged, painted and has a lot of new trick components including by gift from Baja on the new single battery switch and enclosure which is really sweet.
