i posted something yesterday and i guess it didnt post.
i have an 02 25 with a 496ho. i had my 23p mirage plus labbed at bblades the beginning of last year. this year i took it to a local guy just to have it cleaned up.(few nicks in it).
right now with a half tank of fuel and 2 people i am just tapping the rev limiter at wot. just got a little over 70 on gps. im also at 7% prop slip at that point.

I still have the labbed 25" (yes, merc labbed 25") Bravo that I ran on the original 496HO settup. It was my favorite prop. On a good day I would see 67 mph at 4900. I tried two labbed 24" Bravos, and they didnīt seem to be any faster, but took the revs up to 5000.
As has been said, get a labbed prop. An unlabbed 25 Mirage is alot of prop to turn. Overpropping kills bowlift (unless you have a torquey 540 or blower motor), and speed.
3 blade props should be better for bow lift but 4 blades do suit alot of 25 Ol owners.
Strange thing about my 496 was that when I ran an unlabbed 22" Bravo, I still couldnīt get more than 5000 rpm. 496 does not produce any more power over 4900-5000 rpm, but shouldnīt be WOTīd at 4300 rpm either.

Many thanks guys! I've decided to go with a 23p Mirage Plus. It's actually working out well because I've got a buddy with 23+'s on his boat...and wants 25's so, we're just gonna trade props! He'll still need to buy another 25 but it's sure gonna save us both a chunk of change. I'll wait till this fall and send out the "new" prop and get it labbed! Again, many thanks to you guys for giveing me your insight!
